A TT Roll-up 3-Club Challenge was held on the Red course on Tuesday 29th November 2016. The weather was cold and frosty, but at least the sun was shining and the course was in playable condition, albeit with some temporary greens (unlike the previous week when the weather had forced the postponement of the 3-Club Challenge and kept even the most dogged TT Roll-up regulars off the course).
The competition format for the 3-Club Challenge was, as usual : Three clubs + putter - invividual Stableford - full TT Roll-up handicap. The choice of clubs differed somewhat, but most players chose a wood, a rescue club and/or one/two irons plus putter.
Among the seventeen players, nearly half scored 30 or more Stableford points and the winner achieved an excellent 38 points - once again raising the question: Do we really need to haul around 14 clubs??
Results:
Winner - Mike Moulding - 38 pts
Ist Runner-up - Dave Parker - 36 pts (back nine 18 pts)
2nd Runner-up - Bob Headon - 36 pts (back nine 16 pts)
The collected pot of £17.00 was divided between the winner and two runners-up - £10.00 / £5.00 / £2.00.
